Offer something for free or very little investment and people come running.

But then what? They sign up with great enthusiasm thinking that money will now start falling from the sky, and you are excited because you have added a new associate (i avoid using the term down line).

Here is the bottom line; nobody makes money until something is sold (providing this is a legitimate business). Therefore just adding bodies is not going to do it. You need to be there for your new associates. Reach out to them. Don’t hide behind a website or someone else’s name. Pick up the phone and call them. If they are local, go have a face-to-face. Discuss why they need to be involved in your business. What are the expected benefits and what is the path that will lead to the Promised Land. Go over the systems that are in place and show them how to use these systems effectively. Layout the next steps. If your system is telling them to bug family and friends, you may as well quit, you don’t have a business. Real businesses do not depend on friends and family.

If you understand your systems, can explain them simply and are willing to care for your associates – to be there for them, then you will be a good leader.

Remember this; you can’t lead people to where you don’t want to go.
